Dear Kodiak Parents, and Students,
I am pleased to welcome you to Kootenai Classical Academy Athletics! This is an exciting time to be apart of the Kodiak Athletic Family. We are excited about the direction and leadership of our teams as we continue to move toward academic and athletic success.
At Kootenai Classical Academy athletics are integral to the school experience. Athletics can unify a campus and community, as student-athletes take to the field, court, and track to pursue athletic excellence. The athletic programs at KCA would not be able to operate without the hard work of our coaches, teachers, administration, custodial crew, and office staff. Most importantly success begins with supportive families at home.
Participation in athletics is a privilege. Student-Athletes are expected to embody KCA’s Seven Pillars of Virtue:
• Courage: Approach challenges with resilience.
• Perseverance: Never give up on coaches, teammates, or self.
• Self-Government: Maintain control and focus on self-improvement.
• Honesty: Follow rules and take responsibility.
• Courtesy: Show respect to all, win or lose.
• Service: Put the team first; be good stewards of facilities.
• Responsibility: Accept the consequences of my actions.
These virtues are the backbone of good sportsmanship, and our success at KCA.
As parents of student-athletes at our school, your goals should be to:
• Realize that athletics are part of the educational experience and the benefits of involvement go beyond the final score of a game
• Encourage our students to perform their best in competition, just as we would with their classwork
• Participate in positive cheers that encourage our student-athletes, and discourage any cheers that would redirect that focus in a negative direction—including taunting and intimidating opponents, fans, or officials;
• Learn, understand and respect the rules of the game, the officials who administer them, and their decisions;
• Respect the task our coaches face as teachers and support them as they strive to educate our youth
• Respect our opponents as student-athletes, and acknowledge them for striving to do their best
• Develop a sense of dignity and civility under all circumstances.
Please come out and support all of our athletic teams this year. Our student athletes have worked hard to prepare for their contest and thrive off of the support our fans provide. Let’s be encouraging and uplifting to the KODIAK STUDENT-ATHLETES, and be equally polite and gracious to our opponents.
Go Kodiaks!!!
Thank you, Mr. Lindenstein
